Terms of Use
Effective October 25, 2026. These terms are the deal between you and TechGripe when you use techgripe.com. By using the site, you agree to them.
Who we are
TechGripe is a personal project run by one person in Illinois, USA. "We" and "us" mean TechGripe. You can reach us at hello@techgripe.com.
TechGripe is an unofficial fan project. It isn't affiliated with Waveform, MKBHD or Vox Media, and they don't endorse it.
Your account
- Anyone can read TechGripe. You need an account to post a gripe, comment, tap Same gripe, follow a gripe or send proof of a fix.
- You must be at least 13, or older if the law where you live requires it.
- One account per person. Keep your sign-in to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account.
- Pick a username that isn't someone else's name or brand, and don't pretend to be a company, a person or TechGripe.
What you post
You own what you post: gripes, comments, workarounds, photos and videos. By posting, you give us permission to host it, show it on TechGripe, and share it on TechGripe's social accounts and share images to promote the site. This permission is worldwide and free, and it lets us resize or crop it to fit the page. It ends when you delete the post, except for copies already shared or held in backups for a short time.
Fix proof you send stays private: we use it only to check the fix. Only post things you have the right to post. If you upload a screenshot, blur names, emails and notifications first.
Posting rules
- Keep it about the tech: products, apps, services and the companies that make them.
- Post what actually happened to you. Don't make things up or exaggerate to pile on.
- Criticize the product, not the people who made it. No harassment, threats, hate or personal attacks, on anyone.
- No personal information, yours or anyone else's: no home addresses, phone numbers, private emails or account details.
- No spam, ads, affiliate links or self-promotion. Companies can respond, but not advertise.
- No illegal, sexual or violent content, and no malware or links to it.
- Don't post step-by-step instructions for exploiting a security hole. Report those to the company instead.
- No fake accounts, bots or scripts to post, tap Same gripe or game the counts, and don't overload or scrape the site.
Moderation
Posts and comments go live right away, and we don't review everything before it appears. Anyone signed in can tap Report. We may remove anything, merge duplicate gripes, correct a gripe's company or product, and suspend or ban accounts that break these rules, with or without warning.
What people post is their own experience and opinion, not ours, and we aren't responsible for it.
Fixed, Unfixed and the counts
Only TechGripe marks a gripe Fixed, usually after someone sends proof. Days unfixed counts from the date a gripe was posted or aired. It is a count, not a claim about what any company knows or intends. If a status or count looks wrong, tell us and we'll check it.
Companies and trademarks
Company names, product names and logos belong to their owners. We use them only to show which product a gripe is about, and that doesn't mean the company is involved with or endorses TechGripe. A company that wants to respond to a gripe can email hello@techgripe.com, and we can add its response to the gripe's timeline.
Copyright complaints
If you think something on TechGripe uses your work without permission, email hello@techgripe.com with a link to it, what you own, and how to reach you. We'll review it and take it down if needed.
Emails
We send sign-in links when you ask for one. If you follow gripes, we email you when they have an update, and you can turn those off at any time. We won't send marketing emails unless you opt in.
Leaving TechGripe
You can stop using TechGripe at any time. To delete your account, email hello@techgripe.com from the address on your account. We'll delete your account, your posts, comments and uploads, and remove your Same gripe taps, within 30 days. We may also suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
No promises
TechGripe is free and offered as is. We try to keep it accurate and running, but we can't promise it will always work, be error-free, or that any gripe is accurate. Gripes are people's experiences, not advice. For anything about safety, such as a car or a device that overheats, contact the manufacturer and check for recalls.
Limits on liability
As far as the law allows, TechGripe isn't responsible for indirect losses, lost data or lost profits from using the site, and our total responsibility for any claim is limited to $50. If someone makes a legal claim against us because of something you posted or because you broke these terms, you agree to cover our reasonable costs.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for big changes we'll put a notice on the site or email you. If you keep using TechGripe after a change, you accept the new terms.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Illinois. Any dispute goes to the courts in DuPage County, Illinois, unless the law where you live says otherwise.
